What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating the connection between migraine headaches and Helicobacter pylori infection in children and adolescents aged 6 to 16 years. Migraines are common headaches characterized by moderate to severe pain, often involving blood vessel changes and nerve activation. This study focuses on understanding how H. pylori infection, a bacteria involved in stomach issues and inflammation, may relate to migraine types with or without sensory symptoms called aura. The study involves two groups: children with migraine and healthy children without migraine or neurological diseases. All participants will be tested for H. pylori antigen in stool samples. Children who test positive for the bacteria may undergo an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy for further examination. This approach aims to assess the presence of H. pylori infection in both groups and its possible role in migraine occurrence. Participants will be monitored over a one-year period to evaluate migraine characteristics and their association with H. pylori infection. The study includes detailed clinical evaluations and diagnostic tests to explore the relationship between gastrointestinal infection and migraine symptoms. The research will help clarify whether treating H. pylori infection might influence migraine attacks in this young population.
