What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the use of bioimpedance, temperature, and light absorption measurements to monitor abdominal free flaps during arterial and venous weaning in breast reconstruction surgery. This study focuses on a thrombosis model created during surgery when blood flow is intentionally interrupted to transfer the flap. The study aims to collect feasibility data to help improve postoperative monitoring in this context. Participants will have a portable bioimpedance measurement device attached to the healthy skin of the flap during surgery. This device is secured with sterile glue and covered with protective dressings to avoid contact with the surgical wound. The device remains in place during the arterial and venous weaning phase to capture important data related to flap viability. After surgery, participants will receive enhanced monitoring that includes regular ultrasounds of the flap every 6 hours for the first 24 hours, followed by ultrasounds every 12 hours for the next 4 days. The primary outcome is the measurement of impedance over one day. This study is designed to provide additional data beyond classical clinical monitoring to support postoperative care for breast reconstruction patients.
