What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a cohort study to investigate potential biomarkers that may predict chronic heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes. The study focuses on individuals aged over 50 years who do not have known heart disease. The goal is to better understand the relationship between specific blood markers and the development of heart failure in this population. The study involves 500 patients with type 2 diabetes. At the start and annually thereafter, participants undergo evaluations including echocardiography, ECG, and blood tests to measure NT-ProBNP, hs-CRP, troponin, and kidney function. Participants also complete a 6-minute hall walk test each year to assess physical function. During the five-year follow-up period, researchers will monitor the development of chronic heart failure and track changes in the biomarkers and physical performance. These assessments aim to identify predictors of heart failure. Participants will be closely observed through regular clinical tests and evaluations throughout their involvement in the study.
