Evaluation of Brain Metastasis Development Mechanism in Patients With Breast Cancer With Brain Metastasis

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating how brain metastases develop in patients with breast cancer who have brain metastases. This study aims to understand the disease process by analyzing genetic and tumor environment factors in brain metastasis tissues. It is an experimental study led by Samsung Medical Center focusing specifically on breast cancer patients undergoing surgery for brain metastases. Participants undergo whole genome sequencing and tumor microenvironment evaluation using blood samples and brain metastasis tissue collected during curative brain metastasis surgery. This study does not include treatment interventions but focuses on analyzing specimens to gain insight into the mechanisms behind brain metastasis in breast cancer. During the study, participants' brain metastasis tissue and blood are collected at the time of surgery for detailed genetic and tumor environment analysis. Researchers will measure intracranial disease-free survival in months as the primary outcome. The study involves no masking or randomization and follows participants over time to understand disease progression. The trial is designed for female patients undergoing curative surgery for brain metastasis from breast cancer.
