What this Trial Is About

This research aims to create a biobank containing clinical information, DNA, plasma, and aortic tissue samples from individuals with cardiovascular disease and healthy controls. The study focuses on patients with conditions such as aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, bicuspid aortic valve, heart failure, and other cardiovascular diseases. It seeks to gather biological specimens and family history to support research into aortic and vascular diseases. Participants include those diagnosed with any form of aortic disease and healthy individuals without such diagnoses. The study collects blood, plasma, serum, and aortic tissue samples, building a comprehensive database linked to demographic and clinical data. This observational project does not involve specific treatments but supports research by providing high-quality, well-annotated samples. During the study, participants provide biological samples and clinical information, which researchers use to establish and maintain the biobank and database. The main outcome is the establishment of a biobank of patients with aortic disease over 40 years. The project started in 2013 and will continue through 2053, involving ongoing data and sample collection. Participants' health and consent are monitored throughout, with no intervention or treatment assigned.
