What this Trial Is About
This research aims to determine if pregnant patients in the Philadelphia area can be recruited to use a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) texting platform called CIRCA. This platform was developed to improve early pregnancy care by engaging patients in healthcare decisions, reducing barriers, and addressing inequities in reproductive and maternal health. The study focuses on individuals from positive pregnancy test onward, targeting early pregnancy care up to 12 weeks, 6 days gestation. The CIRCA platform is a two-way texting system that uses AI to match patient messages with clinician-approved responses and sends educational content. After confirming pregnancy, patients onboard by scanning a QR code and enrolling via SMS. If the estimated gestational age is unknown, patients are guided to schedule a visit at a nearby early pregnancy center for routine testing and counseling. The platform then provides triage and scheduled educational messages to support care. Participants will be involved from enrollment through early pregnancy, up to 12 weeks, 6 days gestation. Researchers will monitor recruitment feasibility, platform engagement, acceptability of the platform at one week and study end, birth outcomes, and emergency department use. The study will track these aspects from enrollment until birth or other pregnancy outcome, with the overall recruitment feasibility assessed over 12 months.
