What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating whether learning about well-being can positively influence the thoughts, feelings, and satisfaction of romantic couples, particularly focusing on individuals experiencing depression symptoms. This study evaluates the impact of a meditation-based mobile program compared with well-being educational resources on relationship satisfaction, mindfulness, and mental health measures over time. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups one group uses the Healthy Minds Program app, a meditation-based smartphone app designed to improve psychological well-being through guided practices focused on awareness, connection, insight, and purpose, for four weeks. The other group receives a curated list of well-being resources to use during the same period. Partners of the primary participants complete surveys but do not receive interventions. Throughout the study, both primary participants and their partners complete online surveys at baseline, week 4, and follow-ups at 3 months, 1 year, and 2 years. These assessments measure relationship satisfaction, depression symptoms, mindfulness, anxiety, compassion, conflict resolution, internet use, and other related outcomes. Safety monitoring includes screening for suicidality and relationship aggression. The total participation lasts up to two years, with multiple evaluations to track changes over time.
