What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a prospective observational study to create new personalized 3D preclinical models of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs). These tumors have varied biological behavior and a dense vascular network, which plays a key role in disease progression and treatment response. The study aims to better understand tumor biology and drug responses by developing accurate models that replicate the tumor and its microenvironment. The study uses surgical specimens from patients undergoing pancreatic surgery for non-functioning PanNETs. If there is extra pathological tissue not needed for routine diagnosis, it will be used to create personalized 3D in vitro tumor models using advanced techniques like 3D bioprinting. These models will be maintained under dynamic conditions to better mimic the natural tumor environment. Participants will provide surgical tissue samples that are evaluated by pathology. The team will develop and study the personalized 3D models over time to explore tumor development and test drugs. The primary outcome is the successful development of these models from the day of surgery up to three years after surgery. The study involves no interventions beyond standard surgical care and tissue collection, with follow-up focused on laboratory research outcomes.
