What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the effect of an animated education program on anxiety and vascular complications in children aged 6 to 12 years undergoing cardiac catheterization (CC). This study aims to compare the anxiety levels, bleeding, hematoma, and flat time after CC between children who receive the animated education and those who receive routine care. The purpose is to help children better understand the procedure and reduce related anxiety and complications. Children in the intervention group will watch an eight-minute animated video individually in their rooms 24 hours before the CC procedure. This program explains the steps before, during, and after cardiac catheterization to prepare the children and their parents. The control group will receive usual care, which includes brief procedural instructions but no animated or written educational materials. Study groups are assigned randomly, and the animated education session is delivered on a laptop. Participants will be interviewed individually to collect baseline information and will complete anxiety assessments 2 hours before the procedure. Vascular complications such as bleeding and hematoma will be checked by trained nurses 2 hours after sheath removal. Flat time, the time spent flat after CC until discharge orders, will also be recorded. Data collection occurs over three months during weekdays. The main outcome measured is anxiety before CC, with secondary outcomes including bleeding, hematoma, and flat time.
