What this Trial Is About
This research aims to investigate how lipedema, a specific type of fat tissue disorder, affects knee osteoarthritis compared to those with osteoarthritis but without lipedema. While obesitys role in osteoarthritis has been well studied, the unique impact of lipedema remains unclear. The study intends to clarify lipedemas independent effect on osteoarthritis and help improve early diagnosis and rehabilitation strategies by examining clinical and ultrasound findings. Participants are divided into two groups those with knee osteoarthritis and lipedema, and those with knee osteoarthritis without lipedema. Both groups undergo various assessments including ultrasonography to measure femoral cartilage thickness and other knee structures. Clinical evaluations such as pain scales, joint motion measurements, and osteoarthritis severity classifications will also be performed on the first day. During the study, participants will be evaluated through a range of tests including ultrasound measurements of muscle and tendon thickness around the knee, as well as assessments of joint features like synovial hypertrophy and effusion. Pain and function will be measured using standardized questionnaires and scales. The study is observational, and participants conditions will be assessed at a single visit. The main outcome focuses on cartilage thickness measured by ultrasound.
