Evaluating a Peer Mentoring Programs Impact on Nursing Students Empathy, Social Skills, and Leadership

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the impact of a Peer Leadership Program on nursing students abilities, including empathic self-confidence, social confidence, and youth leadership traits. The study focuses on nursing students in their second, third, or fourth year at Sleyman Demirel Universitys Faculty of Health Sciences during the 2024-2025 academic year. The aim is to understand how the program influences these personal and leadership qualities. The program involves selecting volunteer peer mentor students who are randomly assigned mentors. Over six weeks, these peer mentors receive training in communication, interview techniques, empathic approaches, social motivation, and leader-member interaction. They also share related podcasts and participate in a group presentation and evaluation meeting themed Nursing and Society with their mentees. Participants will be assessed before and after the program on their perceived empathic self-efficacy, social self-efficacy, and youth leadership traits. Socio-demographic information will also be collected. The study measures changes using specific scales, with evaluations occurring at the start and after six weeks. The study is conducted without masking or blinding.
