What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating motor skills, balance, dual task abilities, and social adaptation in individuals with autism spectrum disorder compared to those with normal motor development. The study aims to assess these areas using various tests to better understand differences in motor and social functioning between these groups. This observational study will include participants aged 4 to 21 years and will be conducted after ethics committee approval at a special education and rehabilitation center. Participants will be divided into two groups: those with autism spectrum disorder and those with typical motor development. Both groups will undergo the same assessments, including the 10 meter walk test with added dual tasks, the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test for functional balance, the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales for social adaptation, and the Bruininks-Oseretsky Motor Proficiency Test (BOT-2) to measure fine motor skills, coordination, strength, and agility. These tests evaluate motor and cognitive tasks, daily living functioning, and motor proficiency across multiple domains. During the study, participants will provide socio-demographic information such as age, height, weight, body mass index, education level, and habits like exercise and smoking. The research team will measure motor skills, functional balance, dual task performance, and social adaptation at enrollment. The primary outcome includes the 10 meter walk test, while secondary outcomes cover functional balance, social adaptation, and motor proficiency. This study will help compare abilities between individuals with autism and those with typical development.
