What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate the effect of reflexology on maternal anxiety, labor duration, and pain during labor induction using an extra-amniotic balloon EAB. The trial includes women with a single, term pregnancy in a head-down position, intact membranes, and a low Bishop score, without prior cesarean delivery or contraindications to vaginal birth. The study is randomized and controlled to provide evidence on reflexology as a complementary therapy in this setting. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups one group receives reflexology treatment from a certified practitioner shortly after EAB placement, targeting specific pressure points on the feet, while the other group receives standard obstetric care without reflexology. Reflexology sessions occur before balloon expulsion or removal within 24 hours. Both groups undergo routine hospital care according to standard protocols. During the study, maternal anxiety will be measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory before and after intervention. Labor duration, pain scores, delivery mode, and maternal satisfaction will also be recorded. Neonatal health outcomes will be monitored up to 28 days after birth. Data collection includes clinical assessments, questionnaires, and hospital records, with participant privacy protected. Total enrollment is planned for 84 women over two years.
