What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the impact of three different intraoral scanning techniques on the accuracy and fit of mandibular implant-supported fixed detachable prostheses in patients who have no teeth in their lower jaw. This prospective crossover clinical trial focuses on completely edentulous patients who have four implants placed in the mandibular arch. The goal is to identify which scanning method offers the best precision and passive fit for these dental prostheses. Participants will undergo digital implant scanning using three distinct methods splinted scan bodies fixed with composite resin to enhance stability horizontal non-calibrated scan bodies using the IO Connect system designed for better implant position recognition and 3D-printed auxiliary geometric devices attached to scan bodies to provide additional reference landmarks. Each method aims to improve the accuracy of digital impressions for full-arch implant rehabilitation. During the study, digital datasets from each scanning technique will be analyzed immediately after scanning to measure linear and angular deviations and three-dimensional surface differences. Verification jigs made with CADCAM technology will be fabricated and clinically assessed within an hour of placement to evaluate passive fit using the Sheffield one-screw test and radiographic assessments. Participants will be involved in all these procedures, and the studys findings aim to enhance digital workflows for complete-arch implant prostheses.
