What this Trial Is About
Parents of children with special needs often face high stress levels and challenges in managing their emotions, which can affect both their well-being and their relationships with their children. This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effects of a Comfort Theory-based yoga and values clarification intervention on emotional regulation, comfort, and perceived stress levels in these parents. The study is designed to provide evidence on effective nursing interventions to support caregiver psychological health. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: a yoga intervention group, a values clarification group, or a control group with no intervention. The yoga program consists of structured sessions over 8 weeks involving breathing exercises, physical postures, and relaxation techniques to promote emotional regulation and comfort. The values clarification group will engage in activities to identify personal values, improve emotional awareness, and develop coping skills over the same 8-week period. The control group will not receive any intervention during the study. Participants will complete assessments using the Emotion Regulation Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, and General Comfort Questionnaire at baseline, immediately after the 8-week intervention, and at 1-month and 3-month follow-ups. Researchers will monitor changes in emotional regulation, stress, and comfort levels to evaluate the interventions' impact. The total duration of participation includes the intervention period plus follow-up assessments to track lasting effects.
