What this Trial Is About
This research aims to assess the effectiveness of a regional anesthesia method called the Modified-Thoracoabdominal Nerve Block through a Perichondrial Approach M-TAPA in managing pain after laparoscopic hysterectomy surgery. Since hysterectomy is a frequently performed major surgery, controlling postoperative pain is important for patient comfort and faster recovery. The study compares the M-TAPA nerve block to standard postoperative pain care. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The M-TAPA Group will receive the nerve block using a local anesthetic called bupivacaine before surgery starts, delivered under ultrasound guidance at the costochondral angle. The Control Group will receive usual pain management without the nerve block. The main goal is to see if M-TAPA reduces the total opioid morphine use in the first 24 hours after surgery. Researchers will also monitor pain levels, time until first request for extra pain medicine, patient satisfaction, and side effects like nausea or vomiting. During the study, participants opioid consumption will be tracked for the first 24 hours after surgery. Pain scores will be recorded at baseline and various times up to 24 hours. Researchers will also note any additional pain medicine taken and the presence of nausea or vomiting. Participants will be monitored in a double-blind, randomized manner to ensure unbiased results. The study is sponsored by Istinye University and aims to complete by November 2026.
