Researchers are evaluating the effects of a relaxation and guided imagery program called "MindRegulation" on the socioemotional, physiological, cognitive, and academic outcomes of elementary school children aged 8 to 11 years. The study aims to contribute to knowledge about how such interventions, which combine relaxation with socioemotional learning, may influence well-being, emotional regulation, anxiety, cognitive function, and academic performance in a school setting. The study involves three groups: one receiving the full MindRegulation intervention with relaxation, guided imagery, and socioemotional learning content; another receiving relaxation exercises alone; and a control group with no intervention. The interventions are delivered in the classroom for 15 minutes before learning activities, three times a week, over five months, totaling 57 sessions. The MindRegulation program includes instructions for body posture regulation and guided imagery based on themes of self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision making. Participants undergo assessments at four times: before the intervention, at an intermediate point, after the five-month intervention, and at a six-month follow-up. Researchers collect data through self-reports, teacher and parent reports, physiological measurements like heart rate variability and salivary cortisol, cognitive tests, and academic evaluations. Outcomes measured include happiness, affect, mental health, socioemotional skills, emotional regulation, anxiety, self-esteem, attention, stress, and physical activity. The study monitors changes over time to understand the intervention's impact on children's well-being and development.
