What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating the occurrence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in patients with primary lung cancer. Past studies have found that these two conditions are often diagnosed together, with reports suggesting that up to 11% of lung cancer patients also have AAA. However, the exact frequency and the reasons behind this connection are not yet clear. This research aims to provide detailed insights to improve prevention, treatment, and long-term outcomes for lung cancer patients who may be at risk of AAA. The study involves 2000 to 3000 patients diagnosed with primary lung cancer between October 2022 and April 2025 at two hospitals. Participants will undergo ultrasound or CT scans of the abdominal aorta to check for AAA. Researchers will gather comprehensive information including demographics, lifestyle habits, medical history, and lab test results. They will also track lung cancer tumor characteristics, treatments, and patient outcomes, as well as detailed information related to AAA and any related surgeries. Participants will provide data through medical records and bedside interviews to ensure accuracy. The study will analyze risk factors and follow patients over time to observe the incidence of AAA. Researchers will monitor lung cancer progression, recurrence, survival, and causes of death. The goal is to identify high-risk factors, improve screening and prevention strategies for AAA in lung cancer patients, and ultimately enhance their quality of life and survival.
