What this Trial Is About
Primary dysmenorrhea is a common condition affecting young women of reproductive age, causing lower abdominal cramps that can impact daily life, academic performance, and mental well-being. This study evaluates awareness of dysmenorrhea and investigates how a structured yoga exercise program may affect pain, quality of life, and menstrual attitudes in young women with primary dysmenorrhea. The research aims to provide evidence on yoga as a non-drug approach to managing dysmenorrhea symptoms. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a yoga exercise group or a control group with no intervention. The yoga program includes breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, and specific postures targeting the pelvic area, practiced regularly over eight weeks. Both groups receive an educational session about dysmenorrhea, and the effects on pain and quality of life will be compared. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires and scales assessing pain severity, functional and emotional dysmenorrhea, menstrual attitudes, and quality of life before and after the eight-week intervention. The primary outcome is pain intensity measured by the Visual Analog Scale. Secondary outcomes include participant experiences and changes in menstrual symptoms and quality of life. The total study duration for participants is eight weeks.
