What this Trial Is About
Chronic pain is a long-lasting sensory and emotional condition that often resists treatment and significantly affects both physical and psychological well-being. It can arise from serious illnesses, injuries, or medical procedures like surgery or chemotherapy. This research evaluates the impact of personalized support by an expert patient acting as a chronic pain coach, aiming to improve the functional and emotional effects of chronic pain for patients attending a specialized consultation and participating in group therapeutic education workshops. Participants receive individual coaching sessions led by a health coach who is also an expert patient, in addition to group therapeutic education workshops. This personalized coaching helps patients set realistic goals and stay actively engaged in managing their condition. The study tracks patient wellbeing through questionnaires and assessments during the coaching period. During the study, patients will complete the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) at enrollment and at 4, 6, and 12 months to measure the impact of pain on their function and emotions. The study involves regular follow-up to monitor progress and assess the benefits of combining group education with tailored individual coaching. Participation is expected to span at least one year from enrollment to final assessment.
