Researchers are evaluating the Choose to Move Replacement Ready (CTM-RR) program, an adapted 3-month, choice-based health promotion for older adults with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis awaiting total hip or knee replacement surgery. This observational trial aims to assess the feasibility of delivering CTM-RR and its impact on physical activity, mobility, pain, function, quality of life, psychosocial health, and other health outcomes in this population. The CTM-RR program includes a 30-minute one-on-one virtual consultation with an activity coach to set goals and create a physical activity plan, eight 90-minute virtual group sessions with peer support and guided hip and knee exercises, and home-based exercises to complete twice weekly. Optional activities include a bi-weekly newsletter and peer support check-ins. The program is delivered virtually by trained activity coaches and will be offered to approximately 60 participants across British Columbia over six online programs. Participants will complete online surveys at baseline, 3 months (post-intervention), and 6 months (follow-up) about their physical activity, mobility, pain, joint condition perception, psychosocial health, self-efficacy, social isolation, and sedentary time. Activity coaches and referral partners will also provide feedback through surveys and interviews. Researchers will monitor recruitment, retention, exercise adherence, and adverse events to evaluate program feasibility and impact over a total of 6 months.
