What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate whether Street Racket, a flexible and playful ball-and-racket game, can be successfully added to ambulatory pulmonary rehabilitation for adults with chronic lung diseases. Pulmonary rehabilitation helps improve health and reduce hospital visits but many patients struggle to join or continue due to motivation or exercise demands. The study focuses on how feasible and acceptable Street Racket is as a fun, adaptable activity that might enhance rehabilitation and mental well-being. Participants take part in Street Racket sessions every two weeks during their pulmonary rehabilitation program. Each session includes a 10-minute warm-up by a physiotherapist, followed by 45 minutes of play with breaks and a cool-down. The game is adjusted based on group size and participant ability, and may include cognitive or balance exercises. Participation in Street Racket is voluntary and the training is the same for study participants and non-participants. Throughout the program, participants complete questionnaires at the start and end about how feasible and suitable they find Street Racket. They also rate their breathlessness during each session, and attendance is tracked along with reasons for any absences. Routine rehabilitation data like diagnosis and medication are reviewed. The study ends when the pulmonary rehabilitation program finishes, which may last up to three months.
