Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of visual impairment in industrialized countries. Anatomical examination findings at the early and intermediate stages of AMD are not sufficient to determine any functional alterations at these stages (e.g., alterations in microperimetry, multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) and contrast sensitivity). Identifying early functional markers of the disease is a necessary first step in the development and clinical validation of treatments to slow progression to advanced disease.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Patient over 18 years of age
- Corrected visual acuity 10/10 in each eye
- Presence of retinal alterations compatible with early or intermediate age-related macular degeneration in at least one eye, including soft or hard drusen, cuticular drusen, or reticulated pseudo-drusen
You will not qualify if you...
- Presence of geographic atrophy in one or both eyes
- Presence of visible neovascularization on OCT scans in one or both eyes
- Signs suggesting alternative retinal diseases such as bestrophinopathies or familial drusen
- Eye movement disorders preventing proper functional testing, including nystagmus or paralysis
- Neurological diseases hindering functional tests, such as advanced Parkinsonian syndromes or Alzheimer's disease with visuomotor apraxia
- Other eye diseases affecting vision or measurements like glaucoma, optic neuropathy, or severe refractive errors
- Medical conditions preventing examinations or imaging, such as tremors
