What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating the Health Impact 360 intervention to promote cardiovascular health, including physical, mental, and social well-being, among adults living in marginalized communities. The study aims to compare outcomes between participants receiving the intervention and those in a delayed intervention control group. The research focuses on improvements in cardiovascular health measured by the Lifes Essential 8 score, as well as mental health and social support outcomes over a 16-week period. Participants in the Health Impact 360 intervention will engage in group sessions 1 to 2 times per week for up to 2 hours each. Sessions consist of activities supporting physical, mental, social, financial, and community health, followed by group walking and stretching exercises. The control group will be on a wait list for about 16 weeks before being invited to participate in the intervention. Both groups will be assessed at baseline and after 16 weeks. During the study, participants will complete surveys and biometric measurements at the start and end of the 16-week period. They will also use a pedometer provided by the study to self-monitor physical activity. Researchers will measure changes in cardiovascular health, perceived stress, emotional and instrumental social support, and social isolation. The study is randomized and single-blind, and participants may receive usual care while involved in the trial.
