The overarching goal of this work is to address the limited access to evidence-based health behavior and lifestyle interventions for youth and families most impacted by preventable chronic diseases, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. In the current project, we implement a small single-arm pilot and feasibility trial of Health Without Barriers/Salud Sin Barreras (HWB/SSB), a culturally-adapted, whole-family intensive health behavior and lifestyle intervention to 11-19-year-old adolescents and their families living in Northern Colorado. Objectives are refining the HWB/SSB community facilitator training, evaluating the feasibility and acceptability of HWB/SSB implementation, and characterizing changes in health outcomes among adolescent participants.

Who Can Participate
Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you...
- Adolescents between 11 and 19 years old
- Adolescents residing in Larimer County, Weld County, or surrounding areas
- Parents or guardians 18 years or older
- Parents or guardians of an adolescent aged 11 to 19
- Parents or guardians residing in Larimer County, Weld County, or surrounding areas
- Facilitators 18 years or older
- Facilitators residing in Larimer County, Weld County, or surrounding areas
- Facilitators planning to or having facilitated HWB
You will not qualify if you...
- Adolescents with medical or psychological conditions that may affect safety or ability to benefit from the program (e.g., severe emotional-behavioral disturbance, inability to follow directions)
- Parents or guardians with medical or psychological conditions that may affect safety or ability to benefit from the program (e.g., drug or alcohol use during sessions, aggressive or inappropriate behavior)
- No exclusion criteria for facilitators
