What this Trial Is About
This research aims to explore how mobile app-based self-rehabilitation can impact recovery after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA), a surgery used when there is extensive damage to the shoulder's rotator cuff. With increasing shoulder surgeries, especially among people over 50, this study addresses the need for better rehabilitation methods to improve recovery and patient engagement. The trial compares traditional rehabilitation with new digital approaches to help patients regain shoulder function and quality of life. Participants are divided into two groups. One group uses a mobile app that offers a customized exercise program with videos, tracks their shoulder movement range, collects step counts, and includes an exercise diary with follow-up if exercises are missed. The other group follows standard home rehabilitation using educational materials provided in the hospital. Control group data are collected retrospectively and matched for comparison. During the study, participants will be assessed before surgery and then at 12 and 20 weeks after surgery. Researchers will measure shoulder function using several scales like the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Score, Korean Shoulder Score, and others, as well as pain levels, muscle strength, and range of motion. The study will monitor adherence through app data and diaries and aims to understand if mobile app rehabilitation helps improve recovery over usual care.
