What this Trial Is About

This research aims to compare how two types of communication impact patients' pain, comfort, and anxiety during para-apical anesthesia in dental care. Dental anxiety is common, affecting about 36% of people, with 12% experiencing extreme fear. Traditional communication involves warning patients about pain, but this can increase anxiety and lower pain tolerance. The study will assess whether hypnotic communication, which avoids pain warnings and uses dissociative language, can improve patients' experiences compared to conventional communication. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either hypnotic communication or conventional communication during their para-apical anesthesia. Hypnotic communication involves the practitioner using standardized dissociative language without mentioning pain or the anesthesia process, while conventional communication includes describing the procedure and warning about potential pain. These behavioral interventions will be delivered during the dental anesthesia procedure. Participants will rate their anxiety and comfort levels before and after anesthesia using numerical scales from 0 to 10. Pain intensity will be assessed immediately after anesthesia. The study will monitor changes in these measures to evaluate the effects of communication style. The trial will be conducted under triple masking and assess outcomes focused on pain, comfort, and anxiety during dental care.
