What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a structured emotional awareness and communication training program designed to reduce occupational burnout among oncology nurses at Ankara Etlik City Hospital. This interventional study aims to find out if the program increases nurses' emotional awareness, improves communication skills in difficult patient and family interactions, and lowers professional burnout. The study involves 64 nurses who have worked in the oncology unit for at least six months and have agreed to participate. The study randomly assigns participants into two groups: an intervention group and a control group. The intervention group receives four weekly 45-minute face-to-face training sessions that cover recognizing emotions, understanding burnout and healthy coping strategies, practicing effective communication during challenging conversations, and applying personal strategies to prevent burnout. The control group receives educational materials in written or digital format after the intervention period but does not participate in face-to-face training during the study. Participants will complete pre- and post-intervention assessments using tools like the Maslach Burnout Inventory, Emotional Requirements Scale, and Communication Skills Scale for Healthcare Professionals to measure changes in burnout levels, emotional awareness, and communication skills. All data will be anonymized and analyzed using statistical methods to evaluate the program's effectiveness. The study takes place from late October 2025 to May 2026, with confidentiality and ethical considerations strictly maintained throughout the process.
