What this Trial Is About
This research aims to evaluate whether adding a beta-glucan moisturizing cream to standard skin care improves healing and comfort for adults with incontinence-associated dermatitis IAD. The study compares the effects of the beta-glucan cream combined with routine care versus standard care alone. It focuses on visible skin changes, healing speed, symptom relief, and safety in hospitalized adults with IAD. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the beta-glucan cream plus standard care or standard care alone. The cream will be applied once daily for up to two weeks alongside routine cleansing and barrier protection products. The study includes partial patient blinding and blinded assessment of skin condition by specialists using standardized tools. The intervention aims to support skin hydration, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. During the study, participants will have their skin assessed weekly using a validated severity tool and clinical photographs. They will report symptoms such as pain, itching, tingling, and burning. Feedback on cream acceptability and usability will be collected from patients and nursing staff. Safety and tolerability will be monitored throughout. The total participation period is up to two weeks or until skin healing is observed.
