What this Trial Is About
Researchers are evaluating a new method called Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) to improve the interventions provided through social services. This randomized controlled trial focuses on outpatient care, addiction services, and residential treatment settings. The study aims to assess the direct effects of FIT, its cost-effectiveness, measurement tools, and how well it predicts outcomes. It also explores client and social worker experiences and factors affecting FIT's use in social services. Participants are assigned to either receive treatment as usual or treatment as usual combined with FIT. FIT involves using digital or paper tools to collect client feedback regularly during each visit or service week. Social workers administer specific rating scales at the start and end of sessions, discuss results with clients, and foster a culture of open feedback. Therapists in the FIT group will also receive regular supervision to support implementation. Participants will provide feedback about their progress and the care they receive at baseline, three months, six months, and one year. The study measures include problem levels, days affected by problems, clinical outcomes, and quality of life. Both clients and social workers will share their experiences of giving and receiving feedback. The total participation period covers one year, during which researchers will monitor outcomes and the impact of using FIT compared to usual social service treatment.
