What this Trial Is About
Psychological distress such as depression and anxiety is a common and serious problem for family members caring for stroke patients. This study aims to prevent or reduce these psychological effects in caregivers by providing early psychological support. Researchers are evaluating an internet-delivered cognitive-behavioral therapy (iCBT) program designed as an ecological momentary intervention (EMI) to help caregivers manage stress and improve their mental well-being. Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will receive personalized iCBT-based support messages, stroke care education, and real-time nurse-led chat support delivered via instant messaging. The other group will receive general mental health information through instant messages. The intervention is tailored to each participant's preferences regarding message content, timing, and frequency. During the 24-week study period, caregivers will complete assessments measuring depressive symptoms using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), anxiety with the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), stress levels with the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-4), loneliness with the UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS-8), and psychological flexibility with the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II (AAQ-II). Researchers will monitor these outcomes to evaluate the impact of the intervention on caregiver mental health over time.
