Validation of the BETY-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire for Adults with Chronic Kidney Disease Including Dialysis and Kidney Transplant Patients

Chronic Kidney Disease CKD is linked to significant psychosocial challenges such as depression, anxiety, and reduced quality of life. Understanding the biopsychosocial aspects of CKD can help improve disease management. This research evaluates the BETY-Biopsychosocial Questionnaire BETY-BQ, a tool designed to assess physical, emotional, and social factors in patients with CKD, including those on dialysis and kidney transplant recipients, to support better care and outcomes. The study involves applying the BETY-BQ to individuals diagnosed with CKD, those undergoing dialysis, and kidney transplant recipients. This questionnaire, developed from an innovative exercise therapy model, assesses multiple biopsychosocial characteristics like pain, mood, functionality, sociability, sexuality, and sleep. The research aims to validate the BETY-BQs reliability, validity, and sensitivity in this patient group by collecting questionnaire data over three months. Participants will complete the BETY-BQ and other assessments such as the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, Kidney Disease and Quality of Life KDQOL-36, Clinical Frailty Scale, and Frail Scale over three months. These evaluations help researchers understand the psychosocial impact of CKD and related treatments. The study is observational, with no drug or treatment interventions, and participants will contribute data to help verify the questionnaire as a useful tool for healthcare teams managing CKD.
