What this Trial Is About
Community-acquired pneumonia CAP is an infection causing inflammation in the lungs that occurs outside hospital settings. In China, CAP is common, especially among elderly patients who face a higher risk of death. The main bacteria causing CAP include Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Streptococcus pneumoniae, with drug resistance to common antibiotics being a serious problem nationwide. Lefamulin is a new antibacterial medicine that works against these bacteria, including resistant strains, and has been supported by previous clinical trials and guidelines. This study observes the use of lefamulin in real-world clinical settings among Chinese patients with CAP. It is a multicenter, single-arm, non-interventional study, meaning no additional treatments are given by the study. Patients receiving lefamulin as part of their routine care are followed from the start of treatment through about one month post-treatment to assess safety and effectiveness. Participants will be monitored from the day they begin lefamulin until approximately 27 to 33 days later. During this period, researchers will evaluate safety by tracking any side effects and assess clinical responses at various points, including early treatment response and test-of-cure assessments. Health outcomes such as hospital readmission rates and quality of life changes will also be recorded to understand the real-world impact of lefamulin treatment.
