What this Trial Is About
Children attending regular primary schools often experience lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), which may affect their overall well-being. This observational study seeks to determine how common LUTS are among Flemish primary school children and explore their relationship with well-being in the school environment. It also examines whether co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) influence these symptoms and children's daily lives, especially at school. The study collects information by having children, their parents, and teachers complete several questionnaires. These include validated tools measuring well-being, bladder and bowel dysfunction, motor functioning, and additional questions about LUTS, NDDs, and treatment perceptions. The study also gathers data on school policies related to children's toilet use and drinking habits in classrooms. Participants will be asked to complete these questionnaires throughout the study. Researchers will assess bladder and bowel dysfunction and school functioning as their main outcomes. They will also examine factors influencing school functioning and perceptions of treatment characteristics. The study involves children in primary education, their parents, and teachers, with assessments continuing until study completion.
