What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating how mat Pilates affects body awareness and physical activity levels in sedentary women transitioning to adulthood, ages 18 to 29. This study compares two groups: one doing Pilates exercises and one control group, to understand changes after an 8-week exercise program. The focus is on improving physical health and mental well-being during a period marked by identity exploration and lifestyle changes. Participants are divided randomly into two groups: the Pilates training group and a control group. The Pilates group will perform exercises three times a week for about one hour each session over 8 weeks. The exercises include pelvic movements, breathing exercises, leg strengthening, core work, and flexibility routines. The control group will be assessed without starting Pilates. Assessments happen before and after the 8-week period. During the study, participants will complete questionnaires measuring body awareness and physical activity levels. The main tools used are the Body Awareness Questionnaire, the Tegner Physical Activity Questionnaire, and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire short-form. Researchers will track changes in these measures before and after the Pilates program. The study aims to provide insights into physical and mental health benefits for sedentary emerging adult women. Participation lasts for at least 8 weeks with two main assessments.
