What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating whether a mobile app-guided pelvic floor rehabilitation program works as well as standard in-person pelvic floor rehabilitation to treat urinary leakage in adult women. The main question is whether the app-based program improves quality of life related to urinary leakage as much as conventional rehabilitation. This randomized controlled non-inferiority trial focuses on women with stress or mixed urinary incontinence and pelvic floor muscle function adequate for training. Participants are randomly assigned to one of two groups for 12 weeks an app-based rehabilitation group or a supervised in-person rehabilitation group. The app group receives one medical visit, app installation and training, three individual physiotherapy sessions, daily exercises via the app with reminders, and a teleconsultation at week 6. The supervised group receives one medical visit, an initial individual physiotherapy session, followed by twice weekly group sessions. Both groups enter a maintenance phase at week 12 and have a follow-up medical visit at week 16. Participants attend visits at baseline, mid-program week 6, and end of follow-up week 16 for assessments by specialized physiatrists. They complete quality of life questionnaires and other measures related to urinary incontinence severity, sexual function, mental health symptoms, satisfaction, adherence, and treatment costs. Adherence and progress are monitored through app feedback or in-person assessments. The total study participation lasts about 16 weeks, and data are securely collected and analyzed to compare outcomes between the two rehabilitation approaches.
