What this Trial Is About
This research aims to find out if watching a short educational video before urodynamic testing can reduce anxiety, embarrassment, and discomfort in women being evaluated for urinary or pelvic floor symptoms. The study compares the effects of this video with the usual verbal explanation given before the test. The goal is to see if the video improves understanding of the procedure and the overall testing experience. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will watch the educational video explaining the purpose and steps of the urodynamic test before the procedure, while the other group will receive standard verbal counseling only. Both groups will then undergo the urodynamic test as part of routine care. During and after the procedure, anxiety and pain will be assessed using questionnaires and saliva samples to measure cortisol, an objective stress marker. During the study visit, participants will complete questionnaires about stress, coping, and their experience. Vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate will be recorded. Saliva samples will be collected before, during, and after testing to measure cortisol levels. Participants will rate their anxiety and pain at several points. The entire study visit, including the test and assessments, takes about one hour. Data will be kept confidential, and participation is voluntary with no additional medical risks beyond standard testing.
