Researchers are evaluating the use of a mobile application to improve the quality of colonoscopy preparation in people aged 50 to 69 years who are part of a colorectal cancer screening program. Colonoscopy is the best method to detect and remove early lesions to prevent colon cancer, but poor preparation and no-shows reduce its effectiveness. This study aims to see if an app can help patients follow diet and laxative instructions better, leading to improved colon cleansing and colonoscopy quality. The study involves designing and implementing a mobile app compatible with Android and iOS devices. The app provides tailored reminders about diet and laxative intake before the colonoscopy, considers patient medications and health conditions, and allows appointment confirmation. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive standard written instructions or the same instructions plus the mobile app. After developing the app, it will be tested for usability and adjusted if needed before the main randomized study. Participants will install the app and receive notifications starting three days before their colonoscopy. Researchers will assess compliance with diet and laxative intake, colon cleansing quality, app usability, and colonoscopy attendance. Additional measures include evaluating colonoscopy quality indicators and difficulty of preparation instructions. The study will take place in three hospitals, and the primary assessments occur at the time of the procedure, with some follow-up after one month.
