What this Trial Is About
Researchers are investigating MRI-based imaging techniques to non-invasively measure the distribution of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG) and tumor cellularity within gliomas, a type of brain tumor. This pilot study aims to develop and optimize MRI sequences that could assist in understanding glioma characteristics and support the development of new treatments for these brain tumors. Participants with suspected or confirmed gliomas who are scheduled for biopsy or surgical removal of their brain tumor will undergo a 3 Tesla (3T) MRI scan using a special sequence called Mega-laser for magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This device allows researchers to quantify 2HG levels within the tumor non-invasively. The study focuses on patients with IDH-mutant gliomas. During the study, participants will have MRI scans before their biopsy or surgery, and tissue samples will be collected during these procedures to measure 2HG concentration directly. Researchers will compare MRI results with tissue findings to evaluate the imaging method's accuracy. The study assesses 2HG levels on the first day and monitors tumor cellularity to improve non-invasive glioma characterization. Participation involves imaging and biopsy or surgery as part of standard care.
