What this Trial Is About

Cystic Fibrosis CF is a rare inherited disease caused by a mutation in the CFTR gene, affecting various organs including the lungs and oral health. This research aims to better understand the oral health profile of adults with CF, as previous studies mainly focused on children. With increasing life expectancy due to treatments like Kaftrio, more adults now live with CF, raising new concerns about oral health and its impact on respiratory complications. The study uses an online questionnaire developed with the Vaincre la Mucoviscidose patient association. It collects data on dental care, periodontal health, tooth wear, caries risk, mouth dryness, and oral quality of life using recognized international tools. The survey also checks if patients follow recommended oral hygiene practices and dental check-ups. The questionnaire will be shared widely among adult CF patients in France through newsletters, social networks, and care centers. Participants will complete the questionnaire providing information on their oral health status and habits. Researchers will evaluate periodontal risk scores, oral hygiene adherence, caries and tooth wear risks, oral dryness, and quality of life. The study focuses on real-life data from adults with CF, aiming to identify their specific oral care needs. Participation involves answering the survey, with results helping improve dental care recommendations for this population.
