What this Trial Is About

This research aims to assess the patterns of eye diseases in patients visiting the eye investigation unit of Sohag University Hospital. It seeks to understand whether the prevalence of blindness due to eye diseases increases more in women than men, and to determine the rates of glaucoma and other ocular diseases that cause irreversible blindness among these patients. The study is observational and cross-sectional, focusing on patients attending from January 2025 to December 2025. Participants undergo eye investigations including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, refraction, and other assessments needed to reach a final diagnosis. These examinations are recorded through data entry to collect comprehensive information about ocular health. The study involves no treatment interventions but rather observation and data gathering. During the study, patients will have their eye function tested and relevant data collected. Researchers will analyze this information over a twelve-month period, followed by three months for data analysis and another three months for writing up results and conclusions. Safety and ethical considerations include informed consent and adherence to the Helsinki declaration. The main outcome measured is the pattern of eye diseases among the patients attending the unit.
