What this Trial Is About

Researchers are investigating how patients' expectations before treatment might influence the success of physical therapy programs for knee osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a common joint disease causing pain and reduced function, especially in older adults. This study aims to better understand whether patients' hopes and beliefs about treatment can predict how much they benefit from physical therapy, helping clinicians improve treatment planning. Participants will receive a conventional physical therapy program consisting of 15 sessions. The study compares outcomes between patients with low and high treatment expectations to explore how these expectations relate to improvements. Treatment is delivered over a four-week rehabilitation period. During the study, participants' progress will be monitored using several measures, including the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC) score, pain level via Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Timed Up and Go Test (TUG), and Stair Climbing Test (SCT). These assessments take place from enrollment through the end of the four-week program. This approach allows researchers to track changes in pain, mobility, and function linked to treatment expectations.
