AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting a large, observational study involving 2,600 adult lung transplant donors, candidates, and recipients to gather detailed clinical information, blood samples, and patient-reported outcomes. The study aims to create a comprehensive resource to explore how donor differences and medical practices affect transplant results and to identify blood markers linked to post-transplant complications. Participants include adults aged 18 and older who are either waiting for a lung transplant or have had one within the past 30 days. The study follows standard care protocols at each transplant center to minimize extra visits. Data collection includes clinical records, repeated blood samples (plasma, serum), DNA from recipients (and optionally donors), and patient questionnaires, all gathered during routine medical visits. Participants will be involved over several years with scheduled data extractions and specimen collections aligned with their usual care appointments. The research team will track the number of participants enrolled, completeness of key data, patient-reported outcomes collected, and specimens obtained. This approach supports future research to improve lung transplant management from listing through postoperative care.
