Researchers are reviewing medical records to analyze the outcomes of patients who underwent oncological reconstruction of the proximal femur after removal of primary bone tumors. This observational study focuses on patients treated at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute from January 1, 1991, to December 31, 2023. The goal is to understand the clinical and radiographic results related to these procedures. The study involves analyzing existing clinical data, imaging, and histological information from approximately 150 patients who had surgery for bone sarcoma in the proximal femur. Researchers will assess the longevity of the reconstruction and evaluate patient functionality using the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) functional evaluation. This review does not involve new treatments but focuses on historical data. Participants' data will be reviewed to measure how long the reconstruction lasted and how well patients functioned after surgery. The study will use imaging studies and clinical records to gather this information. Participation involves no new procedures or treatments, only the analysis of existing data. The total study period covers patient surgeries over more than three decades, with ongoing data evaluation planned until the end of 2026.
