What this Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating whether adding platelet-rich plasma PRP to fractional carbon dioxide CO2 laser treatment improves the appearance of moderate-to-severe acne scars compared with laser treatment alone. This randomized controlled trial will involve 70 adults aged 18 to 40 years with moderate-to-severe facial acne scars. The study aims to see if PRP enhances the effectiveness and safety of laser therapy while improving patient satisfaction. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will receive fractional CO2 laser therapy combined with topical PRP applied immediately after treatment. The other group will receive fractional CO2 laser therapy alone, with a placebo procedure to maintain blinding. Both groups will undergo three treatment sessions spaced four weeks apart. PRP is prepared using a standardized double-spin centrifugation method from the participants own blood. During the study, participants will be assessed at baseline and each visit for acne scar severity using the Goodman and Baron Quantitative Acne Scar Scale, along with redness, swelling, pain, and patient satisfaction. Standardized photographs will support evaluations. Data will be analyzed with statistical tests, keeping patient groups blinded. Safety and treatment effects will be closely monitored across the 12-week follow-up period.
