Study on Public and Physician Awareness and Attitudes Toward Robotic Surgery, Telesurgery, and Telemedicine

Researchers are investigating the publics and healthcare professionals awareness, attitudes, risk perceptions, acceptance, and concerns about robotic surgery, telesurgery, and telemedicine. The study also explores key factors influencing these perceptions and the specific training needs of physicians regarding robotic and remote surgical techniques. This observational study seeks to understand both general public opinions and the views of clinical physicians from various surgical specialties. Participants include two groups. The public group consists of Chinese residents aged 18 and older who can complete the questionnaire. The physician group includes practicing surgeons and residents from specialties such as general surgery, urology, gynecology, thoracic surgery, and thyroid surgery. Both groups complete an anonymous online questionnaire designed to assess their knowledge, trust, perceived risks, acceptance, and training requirements related to robotic and remote surgery. Participants will provide information through the questionnaire at the start of the study. Researchers will measure public acceptance and perceived risks of robotic and telesurgery, along with physicians self-reported training needs. This study collects baseline data to analyze attitudes and concerns. Participation involves completing the questionnaire voluntarily and providing informed consent, with no intervention or treatment involved.
