What this Trial Is About
Researchers are studying the effectiveness of a 4-week, time-efficient exercise program called Rapid Optimisation of Performance Enhancement and Skill (ROPES) designed for healthcare workers who lead sedentary lifestyles. The goal is to create a program that overcomes time barriers to regular exercise and improves health outcomes in this population. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: the ROPES intervention group or the control group. The ROPES group will engage in a 4-week training program involving resistance training, whole-body exercises, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) aerobic sessions, each lasting no longer than 45 minutes and conducted by trained physiotherapists. The control group will continue their usual activities but will log their exercise intensity weekly in an online diary. Throughout the 8-week study period, participants will be assessed for physical work capacity, muscular strength, body mass index (BMI), and body fat. Researchers will monitor progress from enrollment to study end. Participants are expected to maintain exercise logs, and health and safety will be observed during training. The study is sponsored by Singapore General Hospital and aims to optimize health benefits with minimal time commitment.
