What this Trial Is About

This research aims to evaluate a logotherapy-based distance education program designed to increase physical activity, reduce sedentary behavior, and improve selected aspects of health-related quality of life in adults with sedentary jobs. The study focuses on individuals aged 35 to 60 years who have sedentary occupations and explores how meaning-centered motivation may support sustainable behavior change. It involves a randomized controlled design with participants recruited from various organizations in Croatia. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an experimental group or a control group. Those in the experimental group will join an eight-week online education program with weekly 30-minute sessions followed by brief group discussions. The program integrates principles of logotherapy, existential analysis, the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change, and the CALO-RE behavior change taxonomy. The control group will maintain their usual lifestyle without intervention during the study period. Throughout the study, all participants will complete validated questionnaires at the start and after the intervention to assess physical activity, sedentary behavior, health-related quality of life, self-efficacy, meaning in life, and motivation for exercise. The primary outcome measured is physical activity level, while sedentary behavior is a secondary outcome. The study spans eight weeks, and the findings may help develop more effective, meaning-centered approaches to promote physical activity and reduce sedentary time in adults.
