AI-Summary

What this Trial Is About

Researchers are conducting an online observational study to better understand how genes influence the risk of kidney disease. This study includes adults aged 18 and older living in the United States, regardless of whether they have a diagnosis of kidney disease. The study aims to explore genetic factors related to kidney function, which may help improve future treatment options. Participants come from diverse backgrounds to enhance the usefulness of the collected data. Participants will complete health surveys online and provide a saliva sample for DNA analysis using a prepaid mailer sent through the US mail. There is no need for any office visits. The study includes two groups: those who have been diagnosed with kidney disease and those who have never been diagnosed. Participants may also choose to share their electronic health records, though this is optional. Involvement in the study takes about 20 minutes, during which participants fill out surveys and provide saliva samples. The research team will analyze genetic risk variants associated with kidney disease over a two-year period. Participants may receive free information about their genetic ancestry and will stay engaged through monthly newsletters. The study is entirely remote and designed for convenience and ease of participation.
