Comparing Scalp Block and General Anesthesia for Patients Aged 18 to 75 Undergoing Burr-Hole Evacuation of Subdural Hematoma

Researchers are comparing two anesthesia methodsscalp block and general anesthesiain adults aged 18 to 75 years undergoing burr-hole evacuation for subdural hematoma. This study aims to determine which approach may be preferable during this surgical procedure. It is a prospective randomized trial sponsored by Sohag University, focusing on anesthesia techniques for this condition. One group will receive general anesthesia induced with intravenous propofol and fentanyl, followed by cisatracurium and endotracheal intubation. The other group will receive a scalp block targeting six pairs of sensory nerves supplying the scalp using local anesthetics lidocaine and bupivacaine at specific anatomical landmarks. The study compares these two anesthesia methods during the operation. Participants will be monitored for outcomes 24 hours after surgery. Evaluations will include clinical assessments related to anesthesia effectiveness and safety. The trial follows patients during the immediate postoperative period to compare the impact of the two anesthesia techniques on their recovery and condition after subdural hematoma evacuation.
